College student scripts film to discourage rape

A female undergraduate of the Redeemers College of Technology and Management of the Redeemers Christian Church of God (RCCG), Miss Odunola Rosemary Balogun, has written a film script with which she desires to discourage men against engaging in acts amounting to sexually assaulting and abusing ladies, girls and women.

Miss. Balogun, a 20-year-old 200 Level student of the College, said that she was inspired to write the script which she titled ‘Virago’, because she was terribly disturbed with the palpable tension the incessant rape incidents have been causing in the country.

According to her, Virago is a movie that narrates the interesting, thrilling, and touching revenge mission of a strong willed female character on men who sexually assaulted her during her past life.

Her words, “The movie is all about a female leader of an all-female vigilante group who seeks revenge on those who raped her in her past life. Pained by the harrowing experience of her past life, she re-incarnates to have a sweet revenge on her assailants.

“It relays a strong message to men, especially young men to abhor rape as the dastardly act becomes a lifetime scar on the victim.

“It also warns that law of kamar will always catch up with rapists and even to the point of affecting their children and generations to come.

“The movie also cautions rapists that not all girls are weak as there are those who are strong enough to defend themselves.

“While we urge passionate members of the society to co-sponsor the production of the movie, we like to announce that work has started on it and we would soon go into location,” she said.

Balogun added that Virago is sub-titled as Warrior Queen. She said that the audition for the cast of the movie will kick off on July 25 at the DTCE, New Jerusalem, RCCG Redemption camp on Lagos Ibadan expressway in Ogun State. The movie will be directed by Myde Glover.

“Interested actors are enjoined to reach Playwright and Director through her social media platforms tag named ‘rosemondmovies’.
