CAF Champions League: Enyimba coach makes fresh demand ahead Al Hilal clash

Enyimba coach, Usman Abdallah, says there is nothing to celebrate after their 5-0 demolition of Burkina Faso side, Rahimo FC, at home in the first round of the CAF Champions League campaign.

Enyimba, Nigeria’s most successful club in the continent, moved into the next round of the tournament via a 5-1 aggregate, having lost the first leg away in Ouagadougou by 0-1.

After the Aba outing, Abdallah noted that there is still a lot of work to do, insisting that rather than celebrate, he would step up preparations for the match against top Sudanese side, Al Hilal.

Enyimba are billed to face Al Hilal mid September. A win would see them land in the money spinning group stage of the competition.

Hear Abdallah after the victory over Rahimo: “We still have a lot of work to do. We need to redouble our efforts. I have told the players that much…we just have to do more work…every time we have to work.”

Abdallah pointed out that he had to work on the weaknesses of the team after the first leg in Ouagadougou hence the resounding victory recorded in Aba.

“The good thing is that we saw the team (Rahimo) in Ouagadougou. We came back and worked on our weaknesses and finally you can see the job is done clean. We are happy.”

It would be noted that the other two Nigerian team in the continent, Kano Pillars and Niger Tornadoes crashed out after losing to their Ghanaian and Guinean opponents respectively.

While Pillars lost to Ashanti Kotoko in Kumasi, Tornadoes bowed to Santoba in Conakry.
