By-election: Shun unpopular candidates, Nlemigbo, APC chair urges Imo North

The Imo State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Marcillinus Nlemigbo, has cautioned the people of Okigwe senatorial zone against electing unpopular candidate, who would have nothing but plethora excuses for failure in the senatorial by-election billed for October 31, this year.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has scheduled election of the replacement of Senator Benjamin Uwajumogu, who died, last year. Consequently, the zone has become a beehive of political activities across all major political parties.

Canvassing support for the APC flag bearer, Sir Frank Ibezim, at the APC zonal campaign rally held at Onuimo LGA, Nlemigbo assured the people that SFI, as Ibezim is fondly called, has all it takes to give the zone effective, responsive and quality representation that will bring real infrastructural and human capital development as well as total transformation closer to the people.

Addressing a mammoth crowd of the party faithful and supporters, the party chair appealed to the electorate to throw their weight behind the APC candidate so that he could team up with other progressive senators to bring home much needed dividends of democracy.

He described Ibezim, as a seasoned technocrat and administrator with contemporary political contacts and leadership exposure, adding that Ibezim’s election would bring unprecedented Federal Government presence that would usher in a new dawn to Okigwe, which would reposition the area for greater glory.

The chairman further told the people to resist every temptation to elect unpopular people, who would use being in opposition as excuse for failure.

Nlemigbo insisted on the need to send a capable, skilled and exposed man with a widespread political platform for meaningful political impact, noting that Okigwe Zone needed urgent transformation and could not afford the luxury of time for legislative experimentation.

Also the secretary of the party and Commissioner of Housing, Lady Love Ineh, who also is the Director General of Frank Ibezim Campaign Organisation, described Ibezim as a credible, reliable and dependable son of Okigwe with an impressive track record of excellence in public and private life and urged the people to come out in their numbers and vote for the APC candidate on October 31.

On his part, Ibezim described his aspiration as divine and a call for quality service delivery to the good people of Okigwe Zone in particular and Imo State at large.

He posited that Okigwe people should take advantage of the present opportunity to elect a senator with the right contacts, fresh ideas and sound negotiating skills to enable the zone recover its lost grounds on national socioeconomic template.

He promised that once elected, he would leverage on his experience and contact, as a legislative consultant to pursue economic programmes and policies that would improve the welfare of his constituents through strategic legislative partnership, collaboration and networking.
