JUST IN: Buhari, Security Chiefs in closed-door meeting

President Muhammadu Buhari is currently meeting with Service Chiefs and other heads of security agencies behind closed-doors at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The meeting started about 11:00am. The agenda of the meeting  but the agenda was not known as at the time of filing this report.

However, sources hinted that the upcoming supplementary elections in some states as well as the killings in Kaduna, is likely to be discussed at the meeting.

One of the sources was not sure if the damning report released by the United States group on the 2019 general elections will be discussed.

The United States-Nigeria Law Group, an election observer initiative, on Monday, had released a damning election assessment report of the 2019 election, where it clearly stated that most of the issues that troubled the 2019 general election were deliberately contrived to assist the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to retain power at the centre.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had fixed March 23 for supplementary elections after declaring the governorship elections in six states as inconclusive.

The states are Bauchi, Benue, Kano, Sokoto, Adamawa and Plateau.

 In attendance at the meeting were the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Gabriel Olonisakin, Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai; Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok Ete-Ekwe Ibas and Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Abubakar Sadique.

Others were the National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno; Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan- Ali, Minister of Interior, Gen. Abdulrahaman Dambazau (rtd),Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ahmed Abubakar, acting Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu and the  Director General of Department for State Service (DSS), Yusuf Magaji Bichi.
