President Muhammadu Buhari, and his Vice, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, on Tuesday were among top government officials conspicuously absent at the 13th Colloquium of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu held at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.

Neither the president, who was supposed to be the chairman of the event, nor his vice sent any representatives.

Others absent at the annual event were Minister of Works, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, Ogun State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, Ondo State governor, Dr. Rotimi Akeredolu, Ekiti State governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, former Osun State governor, Rauf Aregbesola, , former Edo State governor, Adams Oshiomhole, Speaker, House of Representatives and supporter of Tinubu, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, among other top members of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Present were Lagos State governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Osun State governor, Gboyega Oyetola, and Kano State governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, members of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Ooni of Ife, supporters of the national leader from the Lagos chapter of the APC.

The event however failed to go on as Tinubu announced its cancellation shortly after his arrival at the venue, claiming his decision was based on the need to sympathise with victims of the Abuja-Kaduna rail attacks.

However, a source which craves anonymity told Nigerian Xpress that the absence of key members of the party at the event including the President was the reason behind the cancellation as the national leader felt embarrassed by the development.

It is recalled the battle for the presidential ticket of the party in the coming general elections has created bad blood between supporters of Tinubu, who has declared interest to contest the Presidency, and that of the Vice President, who is yet to make his intention known but is rumoured to be eyeing the position.
