BUA Group donates N100m to Kwara to fight COVID-19

Wole Adedeji, Ilorin

Kwara State has received the second donation of N100 million from the BUA Group of Companies to flatten the curve ‎of Coronavirus.

Chairman of the Group, Alhaji Abdulsamad Rabiu, made the donation, in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, few weeks after he initially donated N1 billion to some frontline states including Kwara for the same purpose.

While this donation came directly to the state, the initial gesture was made through the private sector-led Coalition Against Corona Virus (CACOVID-19).

Spokesman to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Rafiu Ajakaye, as well as the State Technical Committee on COVID-19 made this known, on Thursday, in a statement.

The new donation was said to bring to N230 million the total cash donations the state had received so far in its drive to contain the deadly virus, according to Ajakaiye.

“The government is particularly grateful to Alhaji AbdulSamad — and all others like him — for the generous donations which have helped in no small measure to combat the fight against the pandemic,” the statement added.
