BREAKING: Eagles fail to win in Freetown

George Aluo

Another draw! That was what the Super Eagles played out with the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone on Tuesday in Freetown in a game many expected them to win.
Though the Eagles failed to secure maximum points, the draw was good enough to see them land in Cameroon for next year’s AFCON.
Today’s encounter was one in which the hosts controlled the first half. Eagles however came out fighting in the second stanza and had their goal disallowed. Iwobi was adjudged by the referee to have been in an offside position when he floated the pass for Kelechi Iheanacho to nod in.

Eagles were however lucky not to have conceded with only one minute left of play when Alhassan Koroma came very close to scoring.
The turf at the Siaka Stephen Stadium did not help matters as it was too bumpy for the game of football.
