BOS Youth CUP organisers commence screening across Lagos

BOS Youth CUP, an Under-21 football tournament in honour of Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, witnessed large turn-out of youth at the Agege Township Stadium on Wednesday for the first phase  screening exercise.

The competition is being organised by the Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) to Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu under the BOS Academy.

They were part of over 5,000 youths across the 57 Local Government and Local Council Development Areas who taking part in the exercise which is being held across 20 centres in the State to select players and teams that will take part in the football tournament.

Part of the criteria for selection is presentation of Lagos State residency card, LASSRA. Twenty-three  players, comprising three goalkeepers and 20 outfield players would be selected at Local Governments (LGAs)/Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) level.

According to  the Chairman of the Lagos State Football Association Technical Committee, Mr. Dotun Coker, said the BOS Youth Cup is one of the events for grassroots football development.

He noted that professionals are not allowed to play in the tournament that it is strictly for participants who are residents of a local government.
