Biplane crashes in northern Kazakhstan, killing one

An AN-2 biplane crashed in Northern Kazakhstan on Thursday when spraying chemical fertilizers, leaving one dead and two others injured, the Kazinform news agency reported.

“At approximately 10:00 a.m. local time (0400 GMT) on June 20, an AH-2 airplane crashed 10 kilometres away from the village of Rodina, Akmola region.

“The crash happened while spraying chemical fertilisers,’’ a news release from the Emergency Committee of Kazakhstan’s Internal Affairs Ministry said.

The pilot of the airplane, as a result of the crash, was killed, and two other crew members were hospitalised with injuries and burns.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. (NAN)
