Two members of the Movement for Actualusation of Sovereign State of Biafra and Biafra Independence movement, MASSOB-BIM, have regained their freedom from detention.
The duo of Ikechukwu Ajah and Uchenna Okeke belong to the Chief Ralph Uwazurike-led group but were erroneously dubbed members of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and arrested by the security operatives in Onitsha, Anambra State, andMakurdi, Benue State, respectively
Ajah was arrested in Onitsha and detained in Awka for over four months while Okeke was reportedly arrested by the military in Makurdi in May and detained for two months.
Uwazuruike’s media aide, Elder Chris Mocha, announced their release in a statement on Sunday.
Mocha also said that Uwazuruike had warned the members of MASSOB-BIM in a meeting at Ojukwu Memorial Library, Owerri, the Imo State capital, against resorting to violence in their agitation for Biafra.
The BIM-MASSOB’ members described Uwazuruike as Messiah and the true hero of the Igbo resistant movement.
He recalled the group’s leadership had last month called for the release of the detainees because of their innocence and membership of a peaceful and non-violent organisation.
