Bayelsa govt. to commence construction of multi-billion Naira Nembe/Brass road

The Bayelsa State Government has commenced processes leading to the take off of the age long multi-billion Naira Nembe/ Brass Federal road.

The state’s Commissioner for Information and strategy, Mr. Ayibaina Dubai, who disclosed the state government’s preparedness to start the construction of the age long road project that had been on the budget of successive federal, governments said  despite the fact that the multi-billion Naira road project would affect the finances  of the state but it is prepared to ensure it’s take off soon to ensure the development of the hinterland of the state .

Dubai who disclosed government’s position on the road at the monthly transparency  briefing in Yenagoa Friday  said the state executive council has approved the take off of the multi-billion Naira project.

When completed, the road which would engulf several bridges through the mangrove creeks to link Brass Island by the sea is expected to open up the state to several tourism destinations in that part of the state .

The Nembe/ Brass area is known for its oil rich resources but no road linking the area as one can only access Brass  through large expanse of dangerous waters .

“The government is prepared to embark on another big ticket project  and that is the Nembe/Brass road

“The capital outlay is frightening but as a government if we don’t dare you won’t  succeed. So we have started the process ” , disclosed   Dubai who says the state executive Council has given its node for the take off of the project.

“The executive Council has given approval for the award of the contract , any moment from now those processes will be completed, the job will start .

“It’s going to affect us but , like I keep telling everybody, there are no omelettes eaten without eggs broken . No pain no gain.

“So , as a government  , we are ready for it , we are going to tackle it” added the information commissioner , stressing ” though it’s a Federal Government   road but we will still go ahead with it .

“We are proud to announce to this team ,though we have announced it in the executive council, that the road project is on course , due diligence  and due processes are on .

“Any moment from now the ground breaking will take place and we will start that project” , stated the Commissioner who further assured Bayelsans of the Douye Diri-led administration’s preparedness to judiciously plough the available funds in the administration’s coffers into areas that are most important to the people of the state.

“Where necessary the available funds will be channeled to the appropriate places”, he added.
