Bauchi gov. commends speedy election process

Bauchi state governor, Muhammed Abubakar, on Saturday in Bauchi State, commended what he described as the speed with which accreditation and voting were taking place in the ongoing Gubernatorial and State Assembly elections in the state.

Abubakar made the commendation when he cast his vote at Giddin Durumi polling unit in Bauchi State metropolis.

The governor who was contesting to retain his seat for a second term, noted that the voting process was very faster compared to the previous exercise on February 23rd.

He therefore commended INEC for a job well done, adding that the electoral body had done its homework properly.

Speaking on turnout of voters, he said although the turnout was not as impressive as expected, he was optimistic that more people would still come out to vote.

“I am very sure people would still come out to cast their votes; the election is on until 2pm; I am definitely sure they would come out,” said the governor.

When asked what would be his reaction if he lost the election, Abubakar said “it is God Almighty that gives power to whom He wishes and at the time he wishes.

“I am going to abide by the will of the Almighty because I am a strong believer in the will of Almighty Allah,” he added. (NAN)
