Basketball: Kida assures on FIBA World Cup

President of Nigeria Basketball Federation, Engr. Musa Kida says that the Federation is making all necessary arrangement to ensure D’ Tigers have a successful outing at this year’s FIBA World Cup slated for August 31- September 15, 2019 in China.
Nigeria alongside 31 other teams from four confederations will participate in the championship with two top teams from each of Americas and Europe as well as the top teams from Africa, Asia and Oceania qualifying for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics with the host country Japan and Kida believes D’ Tigers have the quality to do well in China.
“We as a Federation are taking the preparation serious and I hope that before hostilities begin in China the players would have been adequately prepared both mentally, physically and psychologically for the competition.

“You’re aware that we’re the first country to qualify for FIBA World Cup and we shall be taking the Nigerian pride and mentality to succeed to the tournament which I have no doubt in my mind that we’re going to do well.”
On the just concluded AGM of the Federation, he expressed happiness that it came to a successful end with far reaching decision taken even as he commended board members for appreciating the work he has been doing for the past one and half years.
“The AGM was a successful one and it enabled us  take stock of our activities and achievements since coming on board as well as chart a new course for the development of Nigerian basketball,” he stated.
Kida also announced that he is looking forward to such a time when professional basketball league will be put in place in the country to enable players and officials earn good money but was quick to add that this could only be possible with adequate sponsorship.
