Banker in court over N1.09m fraud

A banker, Nnanna Okoro who allegedly defrauded numerous of N1.09 million  on Friday appeared in an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State.

Police charged Okoro, who lives in No. 30, Akinsurulere St., is charged with three counts of conspiracy, fraud and stealing.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Earlier, Police Prosecutor, Chinalu Uwadione told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 5, at No. 7, Coasts St., Stanbic IBTC Bank, Ebute Meta.

He alleged that the defendant had fraudulently obtained N1.09 million from various customers of the bank under the pretext of opening accounts for them.

The offence, Uwadione said, contravened the provisions of sections 287, 312 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Chief Magistrate Adeola Adedayo, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties each in like sum.

She adjourned the case until April 23, for further hearing. (NAN)
