Bandits perating in Katsina State have killed an Assistant Commissioner of Police, Aminu Umar, and a junior officer.

Spokesman for the Katsina Police Command, Gambo Isah, confirmed the killing of Umar through an electronic statement to the press, saying the ACP was killed in an exchange of gunfire with AK47-weilding  terrorists, numbering about 300, who attacked the area.

“Consequently, the Area Commander and one other gallantly lost their lives during a cross-exchange of gunfire,” the statement read.

This was coming, as the Presidency has condemned the attack near Dutsinma,  on the convoy of cars carrying the Advance Team of security guards, protocol and media officers ahead of the President, Muhammadu Buhari’s trip to Daura, his hometown, for Sallah.

Two persons, who were injured during the attack are reportedly receiving treatment but all other personnel, staff and vehicles made it safely to Daura.

It is not yet clear if Umar was killed in the attack or a different one.
Meanwhile, Boko Haram terrorists had also reportedly bombed and taken over Kuje Medium Prisons and released hardened inmates of the facility into Abuja.
