Bandits attack Niger, raze 10 communities

Heavily armed bandits, on Monday morning, invaded some communities in Munya Local Government Area of Niger State. In the process, they reportedly sacked over 300 people from their homes after they set indigenes’ homes on fire.

The bandits were said to still be operating in those communities up till midday, on Monday.

They reportedly burnt down three separate communities during the attack.

It was gathered that a number of families had declared their relations missing, including women and children.

A source in one of the affected areas said that only men of the local vigilance groups were seen providing some level of ‘cover’ for the fleeing indigenes.

The local vigilance groups were also said to have been overwhelmed by the rampaging bandits.
