A pro-democracy and human rights organisation, Campaign for Dignity in Governance (CDG), has said that, the concession document approved for the Badagry Deep Seaport in Lagos State which was handed over to Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu is in a safe and competent hand.

The group, in a press release signed by its Convener and National President, Comrade Razaq Olokoba and made available to the media in Lagos weekend, praised the Federal Government for its thoughtfulness in releasing the paper to the right person, assuring that, “Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu will do justice to the document for the benefit of the citizenry.

According to the release, all the expected largesse from the project for the people of Nigeria and beyond would be realised since the man in charge is a known performer whose second name is ‘Mr. Achievement,’ adding that, the governor is always ever ready and happy to be saddled with responsibilities that could add values to the life of his good people.

The group agreed with the report that thousands of jobs are guaranteed in engineering and Film City deals, just as it welcomed and commended the state for floating the Sovereign Wealth Funds that would accelerate infrastructure delivery in the state.

This development, the release stated further is part of the gains of the just concluded State Economic Summit code-named ‘Ehingbeti 2022,’ the event where Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu received the approval to build the Badagry Deep Seaport document.

The document, which had been given since last August by the Federal Executive Council (FEC), has authorised and provided legal framework for the Deep Seaport concession following the issuance of the Full Business Case Certificate by the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC) last April.

The project that worth $2.5 billion, according to reports will be funded through Public Private Partnership (PPP), and expected to generate about 250,000 direct jobs, enhance Government revenue and operate under a Build Operate and Transfer (BOT) concession agreement.

Against this background, the CDG release therefore urged the people of the state to keep supporting and assisting Sanwo-Olu’s administration in Lagos State for more dividends of democracy, commending the Federal Government for its good gesture for the state that serves as home to all and sundry.
