Dr. Niyi Adewumi, Head of Maternal and Child Care, Ayinke House, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) on Monday said that the newly inaugurated facility had been well equipped to cater for any Gynaecological problems in the country.
Adewumi said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on the readiness of the world-class maternal health facility recently inaugurated by President Muhammadu Buhari.
NAN reports that the reconstructed maternal healthcare facility, popularly known as Ayinke House, located within the premises of (LASUTH) in Ikeja was unveiled on April 24.
Ayinke House is now reputably Nigeria’s biggest Maternity Hospital after it was upgraded from an 80-bed facility to a 170-bed furnished with state-of-the-art medical equipment.
The name Ayinke was derived from the donor of the hospital, a businessman and philanthropist, Sir Mobolaji Bank-Anthony, who donated it in the name of his mother Ayinke about 25 years ago.
Ayinke House now boasts of first-class childbirth and maternal care centre in the health sector of Nigeria.

The facility is equipped with 16-bed emergency care units with 3 organ support facilities, 30 bed special baby care units, five neo-natal intensive care units.
It also has a fully equipped laboratory with support services, laboratories and a blood bank.
Echoing what the hospital has to offer the healthcare sector, Adewumi said it would provide world-class maternal care services to residents of Lagos State and Nigerians in general.
“As we gave witness, Ayinke House has been turned to a world-class hospital with state-of-the-art facilities to take care of women in Lagos and outside Lagos.
“It will take care of our women before, during and after child delivery and of course, it will take care of the gynaecological problems from virginal fistula to other complications.
“We also have facilities to take care of acute emergencies and those who need ventilators. The hospital has 60-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to take care of emergencies.
“We can now take care of complications during pregnancy with our intensive care facilities and a blood bank and a well-equipped Haematology Department and other support staff,’’ he said. (NAN)
