Apostolic Faith Church to kick off Christmas activities with retreat

The Apostolic Faith Mission Headquarters for West and Central Africa (WECA) on Friday said that its Christmas activities would kick off with a Retreat which would be held on December 1.

The AFM (WECA) mission said that the retreat would take place at its various branches all over Lagos State and its headquarters in Anthony Village, off Ikorodu Road, Lagos State.

The Head of Public Relations AFM (WECA), Mr. Kayode Adeleye, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the 2018 Christmas season would be celebrated in a special way through many activities lined up.

Adeleye said that first of the activities lined up for Christmas was a retreat themed “Open the Door for the Shepherd’’, expected to attract many that were seeking the face of God.

“In the spirit of the season, the Apostolic Faith Church will kick start its Christmas activities with a retreat on December 1 at its headquarters in Anthony Village Lagos and other branch churches.

“The 2018 Christmas Retreat tagged “Open the Door for the Shepherd’’, will feature Christmas carols, Bible teachings, questions and answers and other side attractions.

“There will also be a lunch provided for all the retreaters in all our branch churches. We enjoin everyone to come and be blessed spiritually and physically during this programme.

“Although it is a one-day programme; yet, it is packed full of soul-inspiring activities that will be a blessing to all attendees,’’ he said.

Adeleye said that the church would also have two concerts during the Christmas festivities, saying that one would be held in the districts, while the other would take place at its headquarters.

“Other activities lined up for the Christmas festivities are: the concerts and children’s programme.

“The Christmas concert will come up on December 9 at the four districts.

“The concerts will be held at the district headquarters at Oke Aro, Ebute-Meta, Greenland LSPDC Estate, Abesan and Faith City in Lusada, Igbesa Ogun State.

“The concerts will feature Symphony Orchestra, classical and sacred music from the masters. ’’ he said.

Adeleye said that there would be a children’s programme on December 16, while the grand finale of the concert at the church’s headquarters would be held on December 23.

“On December 16, the children will have the opportunity to tell the Christmas stories.

“On December 23, the church’s mass choir and orchestra will render songs from the popular Christmas tunes. The annual concert has attracted many important dignitaries including past heads of state.

“Christmas is purposely meant to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, regarded among Christians as the saviour of the world.

“It is also a time when families, loved ones and everyone come together to thank God for giving them Jesus Christ,’’ he said.

Adeleye said that the activities for the year would end with the Youth’s Camp expected to take place between December 26 and December 29. (NAN)
