APC stalwarts laud el-Rufai for foiling kidnapping

Two stalwarts of the All Progressive Congress (APC), in Kaduna State, on Thursday, lauded the braveness demonstrated by Governor Nasiru el-Rufai of Kaduna State for foiling kidnapping on Abuja-Kaduna Expressway.

They gave the commendation in separate interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Zaria.

Alhaji Kabiru Mohammed-Ibrahim and Alhaji Saminu Adamu-Ikara, APC Kaduna State Auditor and State Youth Leader said: “What Gov. el-Rufai did yesterday on Abuja-Kaduna Expressway deserves special commendation.

“el-Rufai has now shown to the entire world that he is a leader, because as a leader, wherever you are, you have to demonstrate braveness and ability to lead in every circumstance.

“This indicates that the governor has the feeling of his people at heart.

“That is why whenever there is problem in and around Kaduna State, he quickly ensures that he is at the fore front to quell the trouble.

“We, therefore, appeal to other governors to emulate the good conduct and braveness of el-Rufai to collectively salvage the society from incessant crime.”

He also appealed to the people to be vigilant in their environment and report to the appropriate authorities any suspicious person in their mist.

The auditor advocated collaborative efforts between governors, advising that the Northern Governors’ Forum should give the issue of security the desired attention it deserved, to adequately tackle the problem.

The governor, on Wednesday while on his way to Abuja met a very long queue of vehicles on the roadside due to kidnapping ongoing on the expressway.

He took the bull by the horn and led the security to the scene, where three kidnappers were said to have been killed and many victims rescued from the kidnappers.

Mohammed-Ibrahim, who is an ex-Zonal Manager, Kaduna State Agricultural Development Project (KADP), advised farmers to go farms in large numbers to avoid possibility of being kidnapped.

“This is because government alone cannot provide security to all farmers in Kaduna State, but the farmers can organise themselves into groups, especially those who have farmlands close to one other.

“So that they can be going to their farms together in large numbers as a sense of security to one another.

“I think by so doing, we would have solved our problems and government can mobilise security to give cover each group,” he advised.

Adamu-Ikara recalled that the governor had revived some industries, apart from creating new ones with a view to ensuring job opportunities to the teaming unemployed youths.

He, however, called on the state government to continue with its reform agenda to generate more jobs and keep unemployed youths off the streets.

The youth leader also appealed to youth to support the policies and programmes of the present administration to enable it achieve the desired goals and objectives.

On Ikara Tomato Processing Company, Adamu-Ikara assured that the governor had revived the company, adding that it had began operation since.

“The company has been in operation but is challenged by power supply; however, Chairman of Ikara Local Government has supplied electricity from Tudun Wada Dankada Dan Kadai in Kano State.

“We have been enjoying 24 hours of light, very soon, the company will start mass production of tomato not only for the people of Ikara but also for Kaduna State and other parts of the country,” he assured. (NAN)
