Anxiety as PDP, APC await tribunal’s verdict on 2019 presidential election

The much- awaited judgement from the presidential election petitions tribunal has reportedly put the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and President Muhammadu Buhari’s APC camp on edge.

In a recent press statement, the PDP says the country is anxiously waiting for the judiciary to do the right thing because they have proven their case.

It said the judiciary is the last of the masses and hence, the need to address the substance of the petition by Atiku.

“The PDP says Nigerians are now anxiously looking up to the judiciary to have the courage to do justice in the presidential election tribunal.

“The party says the general expectation pervading the nation across the board is that the judiciary, as the last hope of the common man, will be dauntless in addressing the substance of the petition by the peoples’ candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, in the collective quest to retrieve a stolen mandate through the legal process.”

On its part, the APC expressed optimism that the tribunal would uphold President Muhammadu Buhari’s victory at the poll.

According to APC’s national vice-chairman South-south, Prince Hilliard Eta the outcome of the presidential poll won by President Buhari was a true reflection of the wishes of the majority of the electorate in the country.

“Their case was built on nothing as far as the law is concerned. We have no fear or any form of apprehension about the outcome of the judgment of the Tribunal at all. The PDP case was predicated on the use of the INEC server, which is alien to the Electoral Act.

“We have successfully defended the mandate freely given by Nigerians to our party and to President Buhari,” he said.
