Anglican Bishop tasks Gov. Sanwo-Olu on infrastructure development

Rt. Rev. Humphrey Olumakaiye on Tuesday advised Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State to develop the critical infrastructure of the state to further enhance educational development.

Olumakaiye, the Diocesan Bishop of the Diocese of Lagos, (Anglican Communion), gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

According to the clergyman, when educational infrastructure development is sustained, the future of the state and that of our children will be guaranteed.

“Lagosians are eager to begin to experience tremendous improvement in infrastructure development in the state.

“They will appreciate concerted efforts being geared toward improvement in independent power generation to improve on the socio-economic life of the people.

“The people are eager to see the problems of traffic congestion become a thing of the past. The manpower being wasted in the horrendous traffic is alarming.

“Please build upon what the former governor has done to give Lagos residents a relief,” Olumakaiye said.

The cleric said that when every layer of government collaborates on the traffic situation in Apapa area; it could be improved upon and the crisis it generated would disappear.

“The state government’s attention should be given to draw the Federal Government’s attention to the worrisome traffic gridlock, which has been attributed to the perennial traffic congestion from the Apapa ports.

“The problems remain unresolved, and it seems to have defied all possible solutions,’’ he said.

He urged Sanwo-Olu to make security of lives and properties a cardinal point of his administration.

“The profile of Lagos State has been greatly improved, but the menace of land grabbers (Omo-onile) continues to damage the global picture of a mega city of the state.

“Although the government has done a lot in this direction but the menace has not been totally eradicated.

“Rural communities that are supposed to be haven of the low-class people for peaceful settlement have become more of a battlefield because of the nefarious activities of land grabbers.

“If your government makes security of lives and properties a cardinal point of this administration, I assure you that you can never run out of the favour of God and of the people,’’ he said. (NAN)
