Spokesman of the EFFC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, said this, on Tuesday, in a statement captioned, ‘EFCC whistle-blower app stalls at 15,000 downloads, critics allege data theft.’

The report had spotlighted the reviews and complaints of users who alleged data theft by the platform.

Uwujaren, while, reacting to the publication in a statement titled, ‘EFCC reporting app safe, effective,’ he insisted that the commission is pleased with the performance of the application “which has been the springboard of several investigations”

The EFCC has continued to receive positive reviews from users, “especially those whose reports were the fulcrum of intelligence that led to the arrest of suspects or the recovery of stolen assets.”

Uwujaren’s statement read in part, “The novel application is also the subject of peer review by law enforcement agencies around the world. It remains a groundbreaking innovation in law enforcement, especially in Nigeria as it eliminates the human element and other encumbrances in the crime reporting process.

“Naturally, you would not expect those at the receiving end of such a crime-busting innovation to lavish it with rave reviews in the IOS or Google Play Store.

“The reality which the commission can proudly proclaim is that the app is working and, through it, the EFCC is receiving a steady stream of Intel which is the overarching objective.”
