(UPDATED) Sanwo-Ou kick-start re-election bid with  campaign brand unveiling, reel out achievements in 3-yrs

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State and his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, began their quest for a second term in office with the unveiling of the  brand campaign held on Wednesday.

The brand unveiling ceremony took place at a media conference in Lagos.

According to the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Governor Omotoso, who reeled out the achievements of the administration in over three years, the campaign will involved display of digital banners, billboards, branded BRT Buses in strategic locations across the State.

Reeling out some of the achievements of the governor since he assumed office, Omotoso said the administration faced several challenges immediately it came on board in 2019. Some of them were torrential rainfall which impacted negatively on the state of the roads, prompting the governor to embark on intensive road rehabilitation across the state.

Other challenges were the NNPC pipeline explosion in Ijagemo, a suburb of Ijegun,  upsurge in crime due to the activities of commercial motorcycle operators, popularly referred to as okada, outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in  2020, as well as the EndSars protest which rocked the state and almost brought it to its knees.

Omotoso said in spite of the difficulties the governor faced at the beginning of his administration, he rose to the challenge and ensured they were contained.

He added the administration also embarked on development of infrastructure in public schools and  health facilities, as well as other ongoing landmark projects such as the blue and red rail projects, construction of the Massey hospital, the fourth mainland bridge, the Lekki-Epe expressway,  among others.

Omotoso further said that the theme of the campaign ‘A Greater Lagos Rising ‘  suggests an upward swing and increase in the development of the state, adding the state has witnessed tremendous improvement and therefore has risen from the ashes of challenges it faced in the last three years.

“This campaign is not about Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and his team alone. It is a tribute to all our youths who are putting Lagos on the global map. This campaign is a celebration of the collective progress we have made in the last three and half years against all odds,” Omotoso said.

Speaking on the choice of yellow, orange and black colours and the font for the theme, Omotoso said the yellow symbolizes energy, youthfulness, enthusiasm, optimism and happiness, while the orange signifies warmth, transformation, freedom and fun and the black symbolizes power, class and prestige and luxury.

The Director General, Sanwo-Olu/Hamzat Campaign Council, Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Sanwo-Olu said governor Sanwo-Olu has fulfilled all his campaign promises in his THEME agenda and deserves a second term in office.
