NGO honours LASU’s director of health services, Dr Ariyibi with an award

The Director of health services of the Lagos State University, Dr Nasiru Ariyibi, has received award of recognition for his selfless services to the development of education and human capacity in Lagos.
The award of recognition which presented to Dr Ariyibi was organised by the Academic Excellence Initiative (AEI), Mushin zone.
Speaking after receiving the award, Ariyibi said it was a great honour for him receiving the award saying he would continue on the part of service to humanity as it has been the bedrock of his existence.
“I am honoured with this award, I promise to keep doing more to the development of education and human capacity,” he said.
The Director of Health Services, urged all present not to be overwhelmed with the challenges confronting the nation saying all must come to term and work together for the development of education in the country.

The head of Regional Home Brand Airtel, Mr Ismail Olalekan, also got an award of recognition for his contributions to the activities of AEI and development of education.
Speaking at the event, the Project Coordinator, of AEI, Mushin zone, Mr Taiwo Adekomaiya said, AEI has been able to make impacts the lives of students positively through its annual free UTME preparatory exam and award of scholarship to indigent students to study in higher institutions.
“The initiative has also aided 13 indigent students gain admission into higher institutions within the last year alone through our free UTME forms, coaching classes and mock UTME for indigent students. We gave out 23 UTME forms to students who performed well at our mock UTME exams then coached them for their exams in the last year alone.
The initiative also has students who are currently enjoying scholarships in one form or the other from the initiative. Most of them are first class students in their respective course of study,” he said.
Mr Adekomaiya said Nigeria being referred to as one of the countries with largest number of poor people in the world can only get out of the quagmire through proper education of the youth.
“It was in the news last year that Nigeria has the largest number of poor people in the world. This will only change when we properly educate our citizens. The government alone can not do this, we all need to contribute our widow’s mite towards this. Failure to do this may lead to the total failure of the state of Nigeria. The initiative aims to continue to impact in lives through proper and well-rounded education,” he said.
Other awardees include Mr Sulaiman Ogunmuyiwa, Mr Hakeem Opadijo, Mr Hamza Sanni, Mrs Rayhan Davies -Sanni, Mr Wasiu Balogun, Mrs Khadijah Adewunmi among others.
