NCDC confirms 16 new COVID- 19 cases as Delta joins the list

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 16 new cases of COVID- 19 across the country.

This was announced in a tweet on Tuesday night.

Of the new cases, Lagos has 10, two in the federal capital territory and Oyo, respectively, while Delta and Katsina recorded one case each.

The number of discharged cases has also risen to 44. Nigeria has now recorded a total of 254 confirmed cases of COVID- 19.

“Sixteen new cases of #COVID- 19 have been reported in Nigeria: 10 in Lagos, 2 in the FCT, 2 in Oyo, 1 in Delta and 1 in Katsina As at 9:30 pm 7th April there are 254 confirmed cases of #COVID- 19 reported in Nigeria. Fourty-four have been discharged with six deaths,” the agency said in its tweet.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Oyo state government confirmed two new cases of COVID- 19.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Seyi Makinde, governor of the state, said the persons affected include a close contact of a confirmed case.

Aminu Masari, governor of Katsina state, also confirmed the death of a doctor, who is the first person to test positive for Coronavirus in the state. The doctor died three days ago.

Although Lagos has 130,  the highest number of confirmed cases, 33 patients have been discharged in the state. While Abuja which has 50, the second highest number, six patients have recovered.
