Lagos council to demolish buildings on erosion paths

Executive Chairman of Eredo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Epe, Hon. Adeniyi Saliu, has directed the Works and Environment Departments of the Council to, as a matter of urgency, submit the list of houses built on erosion paths and to also notify owners that such houses are recommended for demolition.

He disclosed this in a statement, on Wednesday, while reacting to the current erosion situation within the community, he expressed concerned over the lost of  valuables recorded by people in the community.

He said that citizens who built houses on erosion paths causes danger to themselves and innocent neighbours in the area.

Saliu stated that the  primary responsibility of the council was safety of live and properties of the people, adding that the support team from the Council would visit the affected areas for spot assessment  and revert for a detailed report to the state government.

Saliu directed that a register should be opened at his office in the council for residents who have complains to bring them forward for attention and that works department should immediately begin some palliative measures on some of the affected areas.

While appealing to those affected and the entire residents of Eredo area of the locality to bear with the Council as it tackles the issue, he urged parents to keep watch of their children/wards for safety, adding that emergency cases should immediately be reported to any council official within the Neigbourhood or at the council for action.
