Ahead of Anambra Governorship election, a Court of Appeal sitting in Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja has declared immediate past President and Chief Executive Officer of Transnational Corporation of Nigeria plc (Transcorp), Valentine Ozigbo, as the validly elected flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the poll.
The three-man panel of justices led by the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Monica Dongban- Mensem, also awarded the sum of N10 million naira in favor of Ozigbo as against Ugochukwu Uba, who was earlier adjudged the authentic candidate in previous judgements.
It made the declaration on Friday following an appeal filed by Ozigbo after a lower court disqualified him from the election scheduled by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for November 6, 2021.

The court held that the appeal challenging the judgement of the Awka High Court, which barred him from parading himself as the PDP candidate in the coming election, had merit and was, therefore, allowed.
During the court proceedings, the judges further set aside the decision of the lower court that had striked out the Transcorp ex-boss, declaring it null and void.
