INEC postpones collation of results till Monday

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has postponed the collation of the 2023 presidential election results till Monday, February 27, 2023.

INEC chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu said the postponement became necessary because the results of other states have not arrived in Abuja.

Prof. Yakubu said the collation of results would resume at 11 am on Monday.

The electoral body announced the development immediately after the result of the polls in Ekiti State was announced by the returning officer for the state.

In the result announced, Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Party defeated his opponents by polling 201,486 votes to beat Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) who polled 89,554 and 11,397 votes respectively.
