Anthony Iwuoma

Former deputy president of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu, was among many distinguished Nigerians that were recently honoured by Safety Travels Ltd., a leading travel agency in Nigeria.

The company was incorporated on March 5, 1986, inspired by
travel loving couple, Chief (Sir) Emma Osigwe Nwogu (Nnayereugo) and Lady Fanny Ada Nwogu (Akpaka)  to avoid some hitches encountered in some of their travel routes.
The Founding Managing Director/C.E.O was Akpaka Egbekwo, a no nonsense woman, who decided it was time to make her hobby a business for her pleasure, friends, and everyone.

So, with safety always being her watchword, she decided to name the agency Safety Travels Ltd.

The other founding Directors are: Dr. Ijeoma Omekan
(Nee Nwogu), Hon. Chidi Nwogu, and Mrs. Uchenna Lydia Nwogu (Nee Anyaehie) later joined the board: and subsequently became the Managing Director/C.E.O.
Apart from the 35th anniversary, the launch of  the company’s safety website and App is another significant event in the life of the front line travel agency.

The safe and friendly App was fully developed by the grandson of the founders, UK-based  Chidiebube John Nwogu (CJ) and designed to give satisfaction to the watchword of safe, credible transactions.

Many eminent Nigerians received recognition awards at the event among whom were Dr Sunday Ihetu, former MD/C.E.O Nigeria LNG; Mrs. Adaoha Okwuosa, a retired Federal permanent secretary and former ECOWAS Commission finance & Admin commissioner; and Dr Kema Chikwe, former Nigerian Minister for Transport (Land & Air), etc.

Ekweremadu, who was also one of the awardees, received the Most Valuable Customer award.

He said he had associated with the company for the past 20 years, describing its success as “a great accomplishment sustaining a business for 35 years with resounding success.”
