Couple found dead in Lagos

Tragedy struck at Ikeja, Lagos during the Saturday’s governorship and State House of Assembly elections as elderly couple were found dead in their house, The Sun News reports.

The Sun News said that their house help was seriously injured fueling speculation that the couple were murdered.

The election day tragedy threw the entire neighbourhood into instant mourning.

Though, no arrest has been made, but the Lagos Police Command said it has launched a manhunt for the killers.

The police said they were currently investigating the circumstances that led to the death of an elderly couple, Mr and Mrs Egbeolu, in their apartment in Ikeja on Saturday.

It was learnt that the couple who were gruesomely murdered by a yet- to- be identified assassin  were very responsible and easygoing people.

According to a police source the incident  occured at number 1 Adefolu Drive near New World Hotel, Allen Avenue, adding that their bodies  have been evacuated to a public mortuary.

The police officer said that the bodies of the deceased couple were found following a  distress call that was sent to some neighbours in the area.

It was learnt that following the receipt of the distress call, some of the neighbours rushed to the house where they found the  Egbeolu’s  dead and their domestic staff severely beaten.

“The neighbours immediately called 112 and are waiting a response of the police” a witness who do not want her name mentioned said.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the incident however did not give further clarification.
