Anambra on lockdown despite halt of IPOB’s sit-at-home-order

IPOB’s suspension of sit-home-order in the southeast did little to calm frayed nerves especially in Anambra where an election is billed to take place this Saturday.

Streets in Awka, Anambra state are currently deserted despite the decision of the Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB to lift its sit-at-home order.

The group had earlier announced plans to call for a sit-at-home order to protest the continued incarceration of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu. This would have disrupted the state’s governorship elected slated for November 6. However, on Thursday, November 4, the group announced its decision to halt the order.

Despite the suspension of the order, residents of the state decided to remain indoors today. All public and private enterprises remained under lock and key this morning. See more photos below.
