Akwa Ibom State Government has described as figment of imagination of mischief makers the rumour that Governor Udom Emmanuel has dissolved the State Executive Council on Wednesday.

Earlier, the social media was awash with stories that Governor Emmanuel dissolved the council shortly after today’s Exco meeting.

But in a press statement signed by the state commissioner for information and strategy, Mr. Charles Udoh, and made available to the press, the government said that the rumour was an attempt to cause distraction.

“The attention of Akwa Ibom State Government has been drawn to the fake news making rounds on social media about a purported dissolution of the State Executive Council by His Excellency, the Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel.

“This fake news is a figment of imagination of some mischief makers. It is a meek and condemnable attempt to cause distraction.

“The State Government remains undaunted in the pursuit of its sustainable and people oriented development agenda,” the statement read.
