No fewer than five worshippers were reported to have lost their lives, with many individuals sustaining injuries, when the Zaria Central Mosque, in Zaria, Kaduna State, collapsed.
The Emir of Zazzau, Mallam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, confirmed the tragic occurrence, revealing that the calamity struck during the observance of the Asr prayer at approximately 4:00p.m.
Disturbingly, even though a crack in the mosque’s wall had been detected a day prior, efforts to address the issue were ongoing with a team of civil engineers actively involved in the repair process.

Amid this sombre situation, the Emir extended his heartfelt condolences to the grieving families of the victims. He also directed that prayers be conducted outside the mosque until the necessary repairs are concluded.
Furthermore, he communicated that the funeral prayers for the departed would be held at 8:30 pm on the same day within the premises of the Emir’s palace.
