Amotekun operatives allegedly shot man, 21, dead in Ibadan

A 21- year-old man was, on Wednesday, shot dead in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, allegedly by a suspected member of the Oyo State Amotekun Corps.

Operatives of the corps had allegedly stormed Inalende community, shooting sporadically during which the deceased, Oluwatosin Thomas, who had gone to buy bread in the neighbourhood, was killed by stray bullet suspected to have been fired by the operatives.

However, the Commandant of Amotekun, Col. Olayinka Olayanju (rtd.), said he had commenced investigations into the killing, assuring the public that at the end of the day, any member of the Corps found culpable would be made to face the full wrath of the law.

The reason Amotekun Corps stormed the area in that manner could not be ascertained but residents expressed worry that the security outfit is increasingly getting enmeshed in controversies and could degenerate into another security challenge contrary to its terror group if not properly handled.
