Akwa Ibom gov. orders investigation into allegation of abuse in Deeper Life College

Following a video on social media by a parent, Deborah Okezie, whose son was maltreated and abused at Deeper Life College, Uyo, Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State, has ordered the state’s Ministry of Education to carry out a thorough investigation into the complaints and take necessary action.

According to a statement signed by Akwa Ibom Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Ini Ememobong, the “State Government has noted with great concern, the complaints by a parent whose child is a student of Deeper Life College, Uyo. The complaints gleaned from social and traditional media, relate to the maltreatment and abuse of their child, which occurred at the said school.

“Consequently, the Governor of Akwa Ibom state, Mr. Udom Emmanuel has directed the Honourable Commissioner for Education to immediately investigate these complaints and take necessary action.”

Deborah Okezie in a video which has since gone viral alleged that her 11-year-old son has been sexually molested by fellow students.

Deborah Okezie, posted a video on Facebook where she said some senior students in the college, “habitually inserted their fingers and toes in his son’s anus.”
