Ajunwa takes drug war to next level

Nigeria’s only individual Olympic gold medalist, Chioma Ajunwa would tomorrow (Wednesday) in Lagos, take the battle against drug and tobacco in sports to the next level with a special conference that is attracting major stakeholders in sports.
Ajunwa, an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) disclosed yesterday that she is hosting a one-day conference with the theme, “Drug Abuse and No tobacco Conference 2019…Say no to drug abuse.”
Ajunwa said the conference which is attracting resource persons from the academic world and anti drug agencies is her own little way of jointing other individuals, corporate bodies and security agencies in waging war against drug.
“We have invited athletes, the youths, corporate bodies, security agencies and quality
resource persons from the academic world to be part of the event. The resolutions reached at the conference would be packaged and sent to the United Nation and other international bodies,” Ajunwa said.
The conference would commence by 11 am at the Ikeja Police College.
Ajunwa it is recalled won Nigeria an Olympic gold in long jump at the Atlanta 96 Olympics where the Dream Team also won a gold in the soccer event.
