Airport vigilance group kills girl, 17, over corn husk in Ebonyi

A 17-year-old girl, identified as Miss Nwuka Nwafor, has been reportedly killed by a security man Mr. Chukwuma Anyigor, working at the project site of the International Airport in Ebonyi State.

Visiting the scene, it was gathered that the trouble started when Mr. Anyigor instructed the deceased to evacuate corn husks heaped at a particular area of the place.

According to our source, the Miss Nwuka was an SS 2 student of Izzo High School in Ezza North Local Government Area of the state  did not eat any corn before the incident occurred, let alone heaping the husks at the said place.

It was  further narrated that the deceased’s refusal to adhere to instruction infuriated the security man who picked am object suspected to be a piece of plumbing pipe and hit on the girl’s head severally and she fainted and later died in the hospital where she was rushed to.

Another source who said she witnessed the ugly incident said that the victim who met his untimely death was a menial worker in the area was going in company with one of her friends when Mr. Anyigor directed her to pack the corn husks.

According to the second source, “On that sorrowful day, Miss Nwuka and her friend were moving from one section of the airport to another in search of work until they encountered Mr. Anyigor who particularly directed the Nwuka to pack the refuse which were dumped by someone else. Nwuka couldn’t figure bout why she should pack refuse she didn’t heap, she refused to obey the command and Mr. Anyigor started beating Nwuka with anger until she fainted” she narrated.

The elder brother of deceased, Mr. Sunday Nwafor, said that shortly after the incident, she was rushed to General Hospital Onueke where she was referred to Alex Ekwueme Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki where she ws confirmed dead by the Medical Doctors.

Another elder brother of deceased Mr. Ekene Nwafor willed and appealed for justice over the death of his younger sister.

It was further gathered that before the incident, late Nwuka normally go to airport either on weekends or during holidays for menial work for her upkeep.

The accused person Mr. Anyigor was instantly arrested by security personnel who later handed him over to to the state CID Section of police headquarters, Abakaliki.
