A toddler, simply identified as Favour, has been rescued alive from the rumbles of a collapsed building at the epicenter of the Abule-Ado explosion site in Lagos State.

The girl, who was found naked, was covered with dust when she was sighted by officials of the Nigerian  Red Cross, who were on rescue operation at the scene of the incident.

According to the chairman of the Nigerian Red Cross, Lagos State Branch, Adebola Kolawole, the mother of the girl and her brother were injured in the explosion and were receiving treatment at different hospitals.

Kolawole, who spoke to journalists at the explosion site said, “The girl was recovered at the heat of the confusion. The mother was injured in the head and the brother was also injured.

“The two were taken to two different hospitals. As at close of work for the Red Cross, yesterday (Sunday) at10:00p.m., nobody came for her.

“ We had to start going from hospital to hospital to look for her mother.  Eventually we saw a woman at the Nigerian Navy Reference Hospital, Satellite Town, who, we assume, was her mother but she was in a semi-conscious mode.

“But this morning she was asking the doctors of her daughter and when we were contacted, we confirmed she was with us. She will soon be reunited with her mother.”

Similarly, three more bodies have also been recovered from the rumbles of a collapsed building, supposedly owned by Bethlehem Girls College.

Although the bodies were yet-to-be identified by the school authority, there were speculations that they might have been staff of the school.
