90 Graduands of 2015-2019 session bag 1st Class Honours in Ebonyi Varsity

A total of 90 Graduands of Ebonyi State University  Abakaliki, have bagged First Class Honour degrees in various disciplines covering 2015-2019 academic session and would be awarded their degrees at the 7th-11th convocation ceremony billed to hold on Saturday 14th March 2020.

The vice chancellor of the university, Professor Chigozie Ogbu disclosed this on Thursday during pre-convocation press conference held at the University’s law auditorium CASS Campus .

Professor Ogbu  said that no fewer than 3,169 Graduands bagged Second Class Upper Division , 9, 341 were awarded Second Class Lower Division, 4,606 bagged Third Class and 449 awarded Pass level.

The academic don restated that the undergraduate Students population stood at 16,688 while post graduate students is 5,750  insisting that the ivory tower was working hard to increase the number.

According to him, “Friday 13th March 2020 would be an Inter-Denominational Thanks giving at the School of Post graduate Studies, the climax on Saturday would be the Installation of the Chancellor of the institution Engr. Arthur Eze and the award of degrees “

Speaking against the backdrop  of Accreditation of Courses in the institution, Professor Ogbu said that in 2018, 10 Programmes that had re-accreditation visit received full accreditation status, while in 2019 the University presented 26 Programmes for accreditation after rigorous efforts.

“In this convocation the Graduands of 2015-2019, covering 7th to 11th Convocation comprised of 23 Diploma Graduands, 18,652 Bachelors Degree Graduands, 272 OGD/PGDE Graduands, 596 Master Degree Graduands, 423 Ph.D. Graduands, total number of Graduands 19, 966”

The University don disclosed that plans have been concluded by the institution management to establish an Advanced Central Research Laboratory to provide scientific and social research facilities insisting that some of the equipment for the laboratories were already available for envisaged infrastructure.

It would be recalled that Professor Chigozie Ogbu was appointed vice Chancellor of  Ebonyi State University in February 2020, and his management had increased the Programmes of the institution from 60 to its present 67.
