41 killed in Aeroflot plane fire at Moscow airport an hour ago

At least 41 people, including two children, on a Russian passenger jet, were killed after the aircraft crash landed at a Moscow airport, on Sunday.

The Aeroflot flight SU 1492 veered off the runway at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport as its back section burst into flames giving out thick black smoke, CNN reports.

Immediately the plane came to a stop, passengers escaped the plane using the emergency slides from the side of the plane’s door.

A Russia’s Interfax news agency reported that there was a loss of communication which was caused by a lightning strike which caused the plane to return to Sheremetyevo.

A shocking video of the incident showed that the plane came on the runway at great speed before hitting the group, causing it to launch back into the air and then hitting the runaway again which made it go up in flames.

There were 78 people on board the flight which included five crew members, out of which 37 people survived, five of whom are presently getting medical treatment, Elena Markovskaya, a spokesperson for Russia’s Investigative Committee, confirmed.

Some blamed passengers for not being compassionate enough in helping their fellow passengers as they saved their luggage over lending a hand of rescue.
