Johnkennedy Uzoma, Owerri

About 400 workers of Adapalm Nigeria Ltd, Ohaji, in Imo State, who were recalled recently by the state government, are now back at work.

The recalled workers were, however, urged to justify the trust reposed in them by the state government.

Addressing the staff of the company including the recalled workers, in Adapalm, the acting General Manager of the company, Hon. Goddy Edom Obodo, said for the Governor Hope Uzodimma to approve for their recall to work showed that he had their interest at heart.

Obodo charged them to ensure that their service to the company is  commensurate with their pay, adding that the vision of the state government is to totally recover, reconstruct and rehabilitate the industry to add to the GDP of the state government, insisting that he will not leave any stone unturned in achieving this goal.

To the recalled workers, Obodo said, “The governor loves you. That is why he  ordered for your reinstatement with immediate effect upon assumption of office”.

Obodo also disclosed the state government plans to introduce a modern technology and establish a factory in Adapalm which would  be used in making timber adding the resolve of government to also establish a feed mill in Adapalm aimed towards the development of Imo economy.

According to Obodo, “What this government is interested in is to employ you and also pay you your salary at the end of the month.

“Be rest assured that your salaries are ready, and once we start paying, you will receive your salaries”.

Responding, the chairman of Adapalm staff union, Comrade Collins Meffor, expressed  gratitude to Governor Uzodimma for recalling them, and also for appointing a technocrat like Hon. Obodo to man the affairs of the establishment.

Meffor’s words, “The appointment of Hon. Dr. Goddy Esom Obodo is not by mistake. Rather, it is for correction.

“Dr. Obodo is a seasoned Administrator who will bring his wealths of experience to bear to repositioning Adapalm”.

He described Hon. Obodo as a ‘Messiah’ to them for re-engaging them after 6 years of our sack by Okorocha’s Administration.

He observed that the Sen. Hope Uzodimma-led government has done that thing which was impossible for the previous administration to do by the recall of the old workers of Adapalm.

He pledged their support on the policies and programmes of the governor to ensure that the desired goal for the industry is actualised.

It would be recalled that the recalled workers were laid off their duty post five years ago by former Governor Rochas Okorocha and all effort made for their recall failed

However, the acting General Manager used occasion to constitute a committee for the repositioning of staff.
