3 motorcycle snatchers arrested in Lagos

A three-man gang that specialise in snatching motorcycles within Lagos State were, on Thursday, paraded by the Lagos State Police Command.

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Zubairu Muazu, who briefed journalists on the activities of the suspects, said they were arrested May 11, 2019.

On their modus operandi the members, Lateef Adeleke, Bashirun Lekan and Chinedu Ugozie said they pretend to be pasengers, board the motorcycles after which they strike.

Speaking, Muazu said, “On the day they were arrested, at about 8 am, Mr. Saheed  Ambali of No 4 Kayode Aina Street, Ayobo, Ipaja Lagos, reported at Ipaja station that three male suspects stopped him on the road at Fagbemi Street, Ipaja, and request that he should convey them to Ipaja Bus Stop but he refused.

“The suspects used a cutlass and knife to inflict deep cuts on the victim’s head and right tight.

“The three suspects were arrested and the motorcycle was recovered. The suspects confessed to be responsible for series of motorcycle snatching in Lagos.”

Adeleke, 23, said he had robbed three times with the gang. Claiming to be a vulcaniser,  Adeleke said it was Ugozie that brought them together, with the idea to rob.

The suspects had since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Panti, Yaba, for further investigation.
