Unknown gunmen, in the early hours of Monday reportedly shot at a vehicle which conveyed the Benue State correspondent of Business Day Newspapers, Benjamin Agesan, killing three other occupants in the process.
Confirming the incident, immediate past president of Media Intellectual, Comrade Jerry Iorngaem, said the incident took place around 5km Katsina-Ala Makurdi road.
He narrated that the journalist, who was returning to Makurdi from Kadtina-Ala, had boarded a public bus but on seing his close friends who were also returning to Makurdi, he opted to follow them apparently to save cost.

The source narrated further that from checks, it was discovered that the vehicle he later joined also conveyed local task collectors who were carrying huge sums and were been trailed by the gunmen without any notice of sort.
“Shortly after take-off, the gunmen trailed the vehicle to about 5km and shot sporadically at it and in the process, punctured it tyres which caused it to summersault into the bush.
“They then ransacked the entire vehicle killing three occupants while monies said to be in millions were also carted away by the gunmen and leaving the Correspondent in the pool of his own blood.”
Efforts to get police confirmation on the matter could not yield any result at the time of filling this report.
The Nigerian Xpress, however, gathered that Mr. Agesan was receiving treatment at an unknown public hospital, in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.
