3 days to go: APC yet to notify us on National Convention – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has revealed that it is yet to be informed of a planned National Convention by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Recall that the ruling APC had fixed the National Convention to February 26, 2021.

Also recall that the Electoral Act mandates all political parties to notify INEC of any planned convention at least 21 days before the event.

Three days to the deadline, the APC has still not notified the INEC of its intention to hold its national convention which comes up on February 26, 2021.

INEC National Commissioner for Voter Education and Publicity, Mr. Festus Okoye, said this, on Tuesday.

According to Okoye, “The Commission has not been notified of any convention.”

With the party’s convention expected to come up on February 26, the APC has till February 5 to submit its notification.

It remains unclear why the ruling party has yet to do so.
