2019 AFCON: Ghanaian president summons Ghana’s coach over Asamoah Gyan’s retirement

Ghana’s national football team (Black Stars) coach, Ajah Kwesi Appiah, has been ordered to report to the State House, in Accra, by the country’s president Nana Akufo-Addo.

The football tactician is expected to explain his role in stripping Asamoah Gyan of the captain armband, which led to the sudden retirement of the veteran forward from international football.

The report further revealed that President Nana Akufo Addo would be discussing the possibility of allowing Gyan stage a comeback to Ghana squad ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

Interestingly, the 33-year-old Gyan, who is Ghana’s all-time leading goals scorer with 51 goals, represented the West African nation at the 2006, 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups, took to the social media to announce his unceremonious exit from the Black Stars.
