100 days: Nasarawa Governor distributes 60, 000 dosage of Vitamin-A supplement to children

Gov. Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State on Friday, distributed 600, 000 dosage of Vitamin-A supplement to children across the state to mark his 100 days in office.

Represented by Mr Murtala Abubakar, his Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on SDGs, Sule said that the supplement would be distributed through 326 Primary Health Care Centers (PHCs) across the state.

According to him, the distribution is being done in collaboration with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and United Nation Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

The governor noted that Vitamin-A was significant to the wellbeing of children, adding that the exercise was aimed at achieving goal three of SDGs.

He assured the people of the state that the government would not leave any stone unturned in ensuring a better healthcare delivery for them.

Sule warned coordinators of PHCs in the 13 Local Government Areas of the state to ensure that the vitamin was distributed free of charge to the children.

Sule, who disclosed that machinery would be put in put to check diversion, warned those with the tendency to do that to desist or face the full wrath of the law.

Speaking, Mr Mohammed Addis, the Executive Chairman, Nasarawa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NAPHDA), said arrangement had been concluded to convey the 60, 000 dosage of vitamin-A to all the local governments.

Addis, who was represented by Aliyu Mailafia, Executive Secretary of the agency said the agency would collaborate with state SDGs office and chairmen of councils to train distributors of the vitamin.

He said the training would hold between Monday and Friday would to educate them on how to store and distribute the vitamin.

Aminu Maifata, Chairman Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) in the state, promised that council chairmen would support the programme to succeed. (NAN)
