Anthony Iwuoma

Deputy governor of Lagos State, Obafemi Hamzat, has revealed that two more survivors were rescued while the remains of 10 people were also recovered from the rubble of the collapsed 21-storey apartment building in Ikoyi area of Lagos.

He also said when he visited the scene of the incident, on Tuesday, the site had been shut for four months, from July to November.

However, he added that the lucky duo that were rescued are now being treated in the hospital, but they (survivors) contradicted each other on the number of people inside the building before it collapsed.

Meanwhile, it has gathered that  the company that started construction of the building, Prowess Engineering Limited, withdrew it’s services from the project in February 2020 because it was no longer on the same page with the owners, believed to be Fourscore Heights Limited.

Prowess Engineering Limited had reportedly said it could not guarantee the integrity of the now collapsed building from anything above the four floors.
